The sustainable sensor manufacturer and system integrator from the Allgäu region of Germany have released their second Economy for the Common Good certificate. As well as measuring their economic performance, the Economy for the Common Good certifiate measures their ecological and social responsibility performance.

This is the second time elobau have undertaken this extended audit which covers the ecological and social efficiency of the company. The scale of points that are awarded to participating companies is from -3600 to +1000. elobau scored high on the scale with 558 points being awarded.

The technology company is the leading the way as it is the first company in its international target sectors of industries such as agricultural machinery, industrial trucks and machine construction to participate and have such a certificate.

The Managing Director and spokesperson, Michael Hetzer said: „To have an eco-social verification, which gives us direction in developing our sustainability policies, stood out to me from the beginning“.

Some examples of the topics which were asked about are the fair distribution of income, the ethical supply management and the ecological effect of the products. It is understandable, then that elobau has developed a product free from harmful plasticisers. Production will start on their new modular armrest, which has been designed in-house and made from bio-plastic, in 2019. Thanks to its modular design, individual variants can be manufactured without any additional engineering and tooling costs. This makes the armrest a cost-effective solution, even for smaller companies in the agricultural machinery sector.
