With this acquisition, elobau is strategically expanding its portfolio with additional technologies for human-machine interaction. The two companies have already worked together in the past: elobau was involved in the development of recalm’s first product, the ANCOR headrest. This retrofit system is used in the driver cabins of heavy off-highway machines. By combining loudspeakers, microphones and sensors, it reduces the vehicle noise perceived by the operator without requiring the use of headphones. It also enables the integration of hands-free calling, music and radio communication devices.
Through the acquisition, elobau secures key technologies, products and development resources from recalm. Organisationally, the new subsidiary recalm GmbH, based in Hamburg, will be established within the ensian group. recalm’s previous production operations will be transferred to elobau in Leutkirch. Thanks to existing processes, an established organisation and current supplier relationships, production in Leutkirch is expected to begin as early as June. This strengthens elobau’s headquarters and helps safeguard jobs.
“By acquiring recalm, we are strategically expanding our portfolio to include audio, voice and noise-control technologies. Combining these with our existing expertise in sensor technology and operating systems creates new opportunities for integrated solutions in human-machine interaction,” says Christian Jordan, Managing Director of elobau.
For elobau, the acquisition marks another step in expanding its portfolio in sensor technology, operating solutions and HMI technologies. At the same time, recalm opens up access to additional markets and strengthens the company’s position as a solution provider for modern machine operation and machine interaction.
