As part of an asset deal, recalm, a specialist in communication and noise-control systems, will join the ensian group, of which elobau is also a member. elobau had already been involved in developing recalm’s first product, the ANCOR headrest. This retrofit system is used in the cabs of heavy off-highway machinery. By combining loudspeakers, microphones and sensors, it reduces the level of vehicle noise perceived by the operator without the need for headphones. It also allows smartphones to be integrated for hands-free calls, music and radio communication.
Through the acquisition, elobau is securing key technologies, products and development resources from recalm. As part of this step, the new subsidiary recalm GmbH will be established within the ensian group, with its registered office in Hamburg. recalm’s existing production activities will be transferred to elobau in Leutkirch. Thanks to established processes, an existing organisational structure and long-standing supplier relationships, production in Leutkirch is set to begin as early as June. This will strengthen elobau’s headquarters and help safeguard jobs.
With recalm, elobau is opening up additional markets while further expanding the potential of its own product portfolio. Combining elobau’s expertise in physical operating systems, sensor technology and HMI solutions with recalm’s know-how in sound and voice technologies creates an enhanced offering for modern machine operation and interaction.
“With recalm, we are strategically expanding our portfolio to include audio, voice and noise-control technologies. Combining these capabilities with our existing expertise in sensor technology and operating systems opens up new opportunities for integrated solutions in human-machine interaction,” says Christian Jordan, Managing Director of elobau.
By acquiring recalm, elobau is taking an important step towards becoming a holistic solutions provider for condition monitoring and human-machine interfaces, while also creating greater differentiation in the market.
