EN 954-1: Transitional period extended by two years
The presumption of conformity for EN-954-1 “Safety of machinery - safety-related parts of controls” was extended by two years by the European Commission. The presumption of conformity of EN 954-1 now ends on 31 December 2011. The majority of the member states of the European machinery committee advocated an
extension of the period.
However, this extension carries restrictions. If a C-standard already refers to EN ISO 13849-1, then EN 954-1 loses its presumption of conformity. Products approved pursuant to EN-954 must also comply with the latest technical standards. We therefore recommend using products in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 only.
