1972 - elobau Elektrobauelemente GmbH & Co. KG is founded and develops the first magnetic proximity switch on a dry reed contact basis for hay distribution equipment.
1977 - elobau expands production by constructing its own tools with plastic moulding machines and in the same year brings out the world’s first proximity safety switch.
1980 - a plunger switch based on dry reed contact for gear boxes gives birth to a new product group: vehicle components
1989 - The existing product programme was extended by the addition of explosion proof (Ex) switches
1990 - The introduction of elobau’s first FNR was significant in elobau’s burgeoning relationship with the Industrial Vehicle Industry, and enabled elobau to increase its share of the market as well as being a milestone in the development of the joystick programme.
1995 - The introduction of Hygiene Sensors to the Machine Safety programme provided the Food Industry with products to a higher quality standard.
1996 - With the introduction of the first non-contacting joystick and also the new suction pipe, elobau again confirmed the reliability of reed-technology.
1998 - Due to high demand from the industry, the Machine Safety Sensor programme was increased with the introduction of the 2-N/O contact system.
2002 - innovation in machine safety: with the first safety bus system, the new product line, elosafe improves on conventional safety technology.
2004 - new on the market: the first mercury-free tilt switch
2005 - The release of the Machine Safety ‘Design’ sensor marked the change from pure functionality to aesthetic design. For the first time the sensor becomes more than a simple building block needing to be hidden from sight.
Today - as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of non-contacting sensor technology elobau has representatives in more than 23 locations around the globe. These days our customers in industry and vehicle manufacturing profit from our flexibility in development and our reliability in production.
