The ATEX cylindrical proximity switches are designed for the harshest application conditions such as in the chemical and petrochemical industries, for example. An additional protection tube protects the PVC or silicone connection cable from mechanical stresses or damages in areas with heavy foot traffic.
The proximity switches are designed to be inherently safe and are available with a shielded PVC cable or as an encapsulated version with optional earth clamp.
ATEX switches can be used as follows:
Inherently safe design
- Cat. 1 G (ia) for zone 0 (with shielded PVC cable)
- Cat. 2 G (ia) for zone 1
Encapsulated design
- Cat. 1/2G (m) for zone 0/1
- Cat. 2 G (m) for zone 1
- Cat. 3 G (m) for zone 2
- Cat. 2 D for zone 21
- Cat. 3 D for zone 22
