Pneumatic cylinder switches

The elobau product line includes proximity switches on a reed-contact basis or the magnetoresistive principle especially for pneumatic cylinders. The sensor is secured on the outside of the cylinder and actuated by a magnetic ring in the piston. The corresponding positions are thereby recorded.

Pneumatic cylinder switches on reed-contact basis

These sensors operate with reed contacts, which switch upon approach of a magnet. The main advantage of these proximity switches is the function without applied power supply.


Special characteristics:


  • High flexibility: Variable switching voltage and currents as well as high switching power (up to 250 V AC/DC / up to 1.5 A)
  • Economical solution: Long service life with up to 109 switching cycles

Magnetoresistive proximity switch for pneumatic cylinders

The proximity switch is a fully electronic sensor. Upon approach of a magnet, the magnetoresistive component responds and generates a switching signal. A high degree of accuracy is achieved through the high sensitivity, which is a big advantage for the pneumatic cylinder application.

Special characteristics:

  • The magnet is detected independent of polarity
  • The proximity switches are reverse-polarity protected and short-circuit proof
